Sclerotherapy is the injection of a Sclerosing solution into the vein in order to bring about its disappearance. It works by irritating the lining of the vein such that the vein seals shut. A treatment takes about 45 minutes and can be used to treat "spider" veins and large varicose veins. Most people need a few treatments to obtain the best results. Patients wear a compression stocking for one week. We ask that you walk, bike, treadmill (or similar activity) about 1 hour daily. Treatments are generally done at about 5-6 week intervals.
