Endovenous Laser (EVLT™)

Endovenous Laser Treatment is an alternative to surgical stripping of the greater saphenous vein. A small catheter laser fiber is inserted, into the damaged vein. An ultrasound is utilized throughout the procedure to monitor the laser. Pulses of laser light are then delivered inside the vein, which causes the vein to collapse and seal shut. The procedure is done in-office under local anesthesia. Following the procedure, a bandage and/or compression hose is placed on the treated leg. Endovenous Laser Treatment (EVLT™) performed with a Diomed 810 nm laser which is FDA-approved, for the treatment of the greater Saphenous vein and short Saphenous vein.

What are the benefits of laser surgery?

The benefits of laser treatment over alternative therapies include improved therapeutic results precisely controlled surgery which limits injury to normal skin, fewer complications and a safe and effective outpatient, treatment for vascular and pigmented lesions.

Lasers/light source devices we use include the Diomed 810nm Laser is used to perform Endovenous Laser Treatment (EVLT™) of varicose veins. The Diomed Laser was the first laser approved by the FDA for the treatment of Varicose Veins.

EVLT™ Eliminates Varicose Veins at the Source

The twisted bulging of veins that causes discomfort and embarrassment results from the faulty valves in the veins. As blood flows through your veins to the heart, stop valves are supposed to prevent the blood from flowing backwards as gravity pulls it down. If the valves don't close properly or the walls are weak, blood pools in the vein, forcing the walls to enlarge and bulge out.

EVLT™ uses targeted laser energy to seal the vein shut and help you look and feel better fast.
